Chiara’s designs, mainly in silver and gold, are minimalist – clean lines and continuous shapes – but they aren’t rigid. The metal flows, often the result of hammer forging, one of the oldest metalworking techniques. Forging strengthens the metal and creates textured, organic shapes that have more character than mass-produced cast pieces. To highlight and enhance the texture the pieces are rarely highly polished, the surface finish retaining a slight softness that makes the pieces feel a little more casual but still cool and refined. This makes her jewellery easily wearable and subtly noticeable – but from an emphasis on material and proportion rather than decoration and excess.
