Living in Hong Kong pollution levels have noticeably improved over the last 10 years, but still, a combination of dense urban concentration trapping pollutants and a lot of container ships passing close by means it remains a problem. We all know about pollution but most people do very little to protect their skin from it.
OSCO is a Hong Kong based anti-pollution skincare brand started by an experienced registered nurse. The small range of products is straightforward, using natural organic ingredients, no additives and no animal testing. There’s a clear awareness of everyday exposure to pollution and skin sensitivity and the formulations are specialised, but simple and usable.
The eco-friendly packaging is the same – labels are restrained, typography is simple with no attempt to over-brand the products. Bottles and jars are quite plain, proportions work, colour is used sparingly and the different products feel consistent without needing to match exactly. The grey boxes and white bottles represent the polluted environment outside and the solution inside. The usefulness of the products remains the point but the design supports that and makes them easy to live with.
